Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, Revenue Department, Government of Karnataka is organizing a workshop for disaster management for medical doctors at Vikas Soudha in Bangalore. Dr. Jeevan R, Assistant Director, CHD Group will be addressing the gathering as resource person on developing disaster management plans and hospital preparedness during emergencies.
CHD Group is a public health organization working with Government Departments, United Nation Agencies, Public Sector Units and Corporates in public health risk reduction where health systems and disaster management remains one of their mandates.
CHD Group team has responded to number of national and international disasters namely Typhoon Haiyaan in Philippines, Chennai Floods, Bihar Floods and Gujarat Floods and have trained the boat clinic doctors for response during Assam floods. Recently CHD Group was also invited by WHO-SEARO to engage in the regional consultation for emergency medical teams.
Karnataka has been witnessing number of natural disasters and bringing forth a convergence to safeguard hospitals in disasters remains a priority. India as a nation loses over $1 billion every year from disasters.
